Getting started

Creating an account and signing in

A LizPack account is free. It only asks for an email address and a password, and it opens the client area, from which you deploy your instances, order your databases and manage your subscription.

Signing up only asks for an address and a password, with agreement to the privacy policy.
  1. On the sign-in page, click Sign up, next to No account yet?.
  2. Enter your Email, then a Password and its confirmation. It must have at least 8 characters, including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a digit, and must not repeat your address.
  3. Tick the box accepting the privacy policy: the Sign up button stays greyed out until you do.
  4. Click Sign up. The message Account created. appears, then the Check your e-mail page.
  5. Open the email you received and follow the activation link. The page shows E-mail verified.: your account is activated, your free trial too, and you land signed in on the dashboard, without typing your password again.

Until the link has been followed, the account stays inactive: the sign-in page says so (Votre compte n'est pas encore activé) and offers Resend the activation link. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then click Send the link on the Check your e-mail page. That page remembers the address typed in this browser: opened elsewhere, it shows Aucune adresse e-mail trouvée. A link that is too old or already used leads to Activation failed, from which Send the link asks for a new one; if you had already followed it, My account is already activated: sign in opens sign-in.

An address that is already registered is refused with Cette adresse e-mail est déjà utilisée: sign in instead, or use Forgotten your password?. If our team created your account, the welcome email leads to Set up your account, where you choose your password before Activate my account.

The free trial

The free trial (Free plan) starts by itself when the account is activated: no payment method, no plan to choose. You can deploy your first instance right away. Its length and limits are those shown on the Free card of Plans LizPack; the dashboard shows Free trial in progress and the days left. It is valid only once per account.

With a Google account

Under both the sign-in and the sign-up forms, the Google button spares you a password. Choose your Google account in the window that opens: you land directly in the client area, with no activation email, since Google has already verified the address. An account opened this way also receives the free trial.

An address always matches a single LizPack account. If it already has one, opened with a password, Google signs you into it and the password keeps working. If it has none, the account is created: on the sign-in page, first tick the privacy policy, then Create my account. An account created through Google has no password; to sign in to QField or to the QGIS plugin, create one in Settings > Security, button Create a password: a link arrives at your address, and the chosen password also works for LizPack Field. Two-step verification, if you turned it on, applies too. Until the password exists, the dashboard reminds you with the banner Create your password for LizPack Field, whose Create my password button sends the same link.

Signing in for the first time

Enter your address and password, then Sign in. If two-step verification is enabled on your account, a 6-digit code is sent by email: enter it, or use Send a new code if it does not arrive.

Once your first instance is created, the Personal information window asks for First name(s), Name and Country, needed for your invoices. It comes back at every sign-in as long as a field is missing. Save and continue closes it. You can change this information later in Mon profil.

The dashboard

The dashboard is the page that opens after sign-in. It gathers your figures, your instances and your databases on a single screen.

The dashboard: the counters at the top, the getting-started videos, then the My instances and My databases tabs.

The counters

CounterWhat it counts
Active instancesYour running instances. The ring and the line below give the share of your instances in service.
QGIS projectsThe QGIS projects found on your instances; below, those that appeared this month.
DatabasesThe databases of your instances, and below those updated this month. Dedicated databases ordered separately are not included: they have their own tab further down.
Instances in totalAll your instances, stopped ones included, excluding a deployment in progress. The ring and the line below compare them with the number your plan allows.
StorageThe space used by your files, against your plan's limit, and the space still available.
Database storageThe space used by your instances' databases, against your plan's limit, and the space still available.

The counters refresh every minute while the page is open. The bar of the two storage counters turns orange at 70 % of the limit and red at 90 %. Beyond the limit, the counter shows Storage exceeded; more instances than your plan allows shows Limit exceeded. See the quotas.

The banners

Above the counters you may see an invitation to join a team, with Accept and Decline, a quota alert on your databases, and, without a subscription or on the entry plans, a Choose a plan or Change plan banner leading to the plans; during the trial, it shows Free trial in progress and the days left. Below the counters, when videos are published, Getting started with LizPack presents them; Hide removes them.

Your instances and databases

The My instances tab lists your instances with their address, storage, active services, creation date and state. New instance starts a deployment. The search covers name, address and plan; the Status filter, set to All, keeps a single state. At the end of each row, buttons open the instance page, restart the instance, stop or start it, and delete it. Without any instance, the tab offers Create my first instance.

The My databases tab does the same for your dedicated databases. Each tab has its own address, and the page remembers the one you chose.
